Sam Busko grew up on a small farm outside of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. His curiosity for nature and making things was passed down from his father’s passions for conservation, woodworking, and animal wood carving. Sam has an associates degree in Architectural Drafting and Estimating and he will receive his BFA in Furniture Design at Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2017.

Sam feels fortunate to have had a number of teaching experiences. He completely believes in active learning, being able to visualize a situation and through the act of doing, true understanding develops.  He work as a shop technician and  a teacher’s assistant in a Continuing Studies Furniture class at MCAD. He helps students problem solve, learn how to properly use tools and transform their ideas into physical objects. He has also been a teacher’s assistant for a week long Aerosol Art Camp working with kids ages 6 to 18. The objective of this camp was to paint five bike trailers with the theme of healthy living. He helped students brainstorm ideas, come up with designs, and taught them to spray paint and make stencils. These trailers then went to five different towns where kids were free to check out bikes and ride.
