AP: I checked in with a few students today. Many voiced worry about the pandemic happening. A lot of the conversations I had with students was them expressing their anxiety around school and their work in the midst of this.
Drawing to painting: Today was a work day for the whole class. Again, there was a lot of conversation around COVID-19. It felt like a really important time to be an educator in helping them think about ways to work at home, but more importantly, it felt like an important time to be someone they could talk to about their thoughts on everything. It feels like a lot of the larger conversation happening isn’t thinking about the impact on students. Many are seeing panic in the places they look to for structure and many are unsure about their education. I talked for a while about making sure they are taking care of themselves and checking in with their teachers about their thoughts. I don’t know if I necessarily helped, but I am hoping that I was and am a valuable voice to the students at this time.
