It had been a bit since I had gotten to work with this group and it was really great to be back! Since I had been there, the class had wrapped up the assignment I had started with them and have moved on to talking about color and brush techniques. Laura had come up with an exercise that had asked students to use a color scheme (Monochromatic, Trichromatic, ect.) and pair it with a brush technique to create 10-20 mini paintings. I started making some example pieces then the class watched a short presentation given by Laura about color. Laura’s engagement with the students during the presentation really helped to make it feel like the class was receptive and interested in the concepts being presented. After, Laura gave a brief demo on the exercise then both of us sat down to make more. I’m excited to start regularly meeting with this group more. The next class is supposed to be talking about linear perspective and I’m really excited to work with this group on it!
