Alyssa Herrera

Alyssa is currently a sophomore at MCAD, majoring in Drawing and Painting with a minor in Teaching Artist.  She works in acrylic, gouache, graphite, and also bakes desserts and sews.  Alyssa loves trying new techniques and working with new materials when she creates.

When she was in high school she volunteered to help with Sunday school and VBS at her church by being the art teacher for the kids.  During Alyssa’s senior year of high school, she was a teacher’s aid for the art department.  She assisted in the stained-glass class and Introduction to art class.  In the future, Alyssa would like to be a high school art teacher.  Her goal as an educator is to give kids the confidence that they all can create art even though they might think they will be bad at it.  She believes all art is good art as long as you tried your best.
